Touchdown – When someone scores during a football game it’s called a touchdown. A touchdown is worth 6 points. After a touchdown is scored the field kicker comes on to kick what is called an extra point. One touchdown + one extra point equals 7 points. There is the potential to go for what is called a two point conversion, check back in with Mother and Son Sports for more information on the two point conversion.

Field Goal – A field goal is worth three points. Most field goals are between 20- 50

yards. The kicker must kick the ball directly through the field goal post, which is the yellow uprights that you see at the end of both end zones.

Safety – A Safety is when the defensive team stops the offensive team in their own end zone. For example if the running back has the ball and is tackled and brought down in his/her end zone you would have a safety. A safety is worth two points to the opposing team.IMG_6791
