As parents we want the best for our kids and want to see them do well on the playing field. Here are three simple tips to help achive that goal.
1. Double Knot Shoelaces – I learned this the hard way after watching Kaden run around the football field with loose laces. He was more worried about tying his laces then the upcoming play. It also was a distraction for his Coaches who had to take time to help him tie his shoe. So double knot those laces, it helps!
2. Don’t Eat Fast Food Before The Game – This one is also difficult because it’s easy to get in the habit of picking up McDonalds, or Taco Bell before the game. Time is short and we don’t want to have our kids playing on an empty stomach. Unfortunately playing with a greasy stomach is not much better :). Try to plan ahead with a small snack before the game.
3. Water -Make sure your kids are hydrated before the game and you bring a water bottle to the game. Not easy tasks when we all know they would rather have pop! Keeping hydrated improves performance, so do your best to fill that water bottle up!
Follow the above tips and you will see the results on the field. Remember teaching good habits at a young age helps your athlete in the long run and these habits will hopefully stay with them throughout their sports career!
